Hello, questions, and answers

Simpli uses Indonesian-style word order (SVO) and no verb conjugation. Time is expressed with words like yesterde, now, tumoro—not by changing the verb. Without a time word, you may add wil (future) or hav (past or perfect); see the Time and aspect lesson.

Examples

wer yu fram?
mi fram frans.

yu liv hir?
yes, mi liv hir now.

wat yu du?
mi wok wit kampyuter and langwidj.

Possession and noun + possessor

Possession is noun + possessor: haus mi (my house), buk yu (your book).

haus mi
buk yu

Long vowels

Doubled vowels mark length: it vs iit (eat). See the spelling pages for the full chart.

el (pronoun — he/she/it)
it (verb “eat”)

Time and aspect

Name the time with words like yesterde or tumoro—the verb stays the same. Without a time word, you may add wil (future) or hav (past or perfect). Use olredi for something already done and stil for something still going on.

Examples

tumoro mi si yu
mi wil si yu

yesterde mi finis
mi hav finis
mi olredi finis

mi stil wok
